Assistance to Australians Travelling Overseas

On any day of the year, many thousands of Australians are living or travelling overseas. The great majority of them get through the day without incident or accident, but many do need help - they may have lost their passport or had and accident; they may have been arrested, assaulted or taken to hospital.

For these people and their families, consular assistance - or that assistance lent by Australian consuls who are appointed to a foreign country to protect Australia's interests and citizens - is available around the clock
