Hi Margie,

are you looking to buy or rent? I am not Filipino but I am marrying my fiancee Lindsay, who is a Filipina, in 2005. It depends what you are looking for in your move. Enfield is probably considered a "working mans" area and maybe downmarket. North Adelaide is more "upmarket" and quite expensive for Adelaide. One thing about Adelaide though. Except for peak hour Adelaide is very easy to travel around. We have mostly a grid type pattern for our suburbs so it is easy to find you way around. Email me at lerrol@hotmail with more detail (eg Do you need to be near a school/public transport/ shops/ doctors etc) How much are you looking to pay? House size? If your husband is working at Channel 9 at North Adelaide then you could pick just about anywhere. The north and northeast suburbs would be the absolute best for your husbands work.

Alternatively you can call me on 0423 915 185 or 83760036 after 6PM most days.

As for the job I think it would be good if you have access to a landline (cheaper than a cell/mobile) and actually called the flowershops/florists in the YELLOW PAGES as well as looking in jobsearch.com.au I have actually seen florists advertise in our local papers (The Advertiser, The Messenger) and a sign in their window for staff so dont limit things to a website.

Some people will give you some bad advice and in fact may look to lead you into the wrong direction. I dont know everything but I do know how hard it can be to get on in this country. I am indigenous and at times feel less welcome in this country than even some migrants do, so I am not about to make things hard for our brothers and sisters from across the seas
(all indigenous people of Australia call each other "brother" or "sister " no matter where you come from, it is a sign of respect)
Any help I can give you please dont hesitate to contact me.

sincerely

Hi Margie,

public transport is good in Adelaide so it is more about the price you want to pay for a house. Something good in Adelaide is $200,000-$300,000 for 3 - 4 bedrooms. The Major roads in Adelaide are Port Road, Main North Road, South Road. Major shopping centres are Westfield Kilkenny and Marion, Port Adelaide, Elizabeth, NorthPark at Enfield. I think the major Asian shopping district is either Pennington- Addsion Road, Hanson Rd (Several suburbs are connected to Hanson Rd, Mansfield Park, Ferryden Park, Kilkenny) or The Central Market in the City, they have a small China Town where a lot of Asian stores are. Plus you are likely to find at least one Asian grocery store in most suburbs.
Where are you now? There is a community member who say they have a big clan/group in Adelaide and Filipinos gather at the St Johns Parish on Anzac Highway. Where exactly I dont know. The community members name is Mnonpareil and if you look in the Adelaide SA Forums under the topic Fil Communities you will see their name and I suggest you start by sending a message to this person. I will send them a message to check your message RE house and Job. I think if you are actually communicating with someone who knows the Fil-Oz community you will get better help than I can offer. That is not to say I wont help if I can, I just think you could get better advice.
As for my fiancee, she will be here as soon as I get my papers together and send to her so she can apply for the Visa. She had had her medical and is really waiting on me. I have been lazy because paperwork is not a favourite thing to do for me. I will get it done soon though, I am missing her terribly! ha ha ha!!
Again my phone numbers and my email lerrol@hotmail.com is availoable for you to contact me.
